Soundfreaq and Clashist Launch Limited Edition Speakers -Where Sound is Always in Fashion

In July, Los Angeles brand Soundfreaq teamed up with Clashist, the hugely popular Los Angeles based fashion company known for their highly sought after pop-culture printed apparel. Two iconic brands creating beautifully unique and creative products coming together to deliver a limited edition line of Soundfreaq’s award-winning speakers with a touch of Clashist design.

When approached by Soundfreaq to conduct a brand and product review, we were not only honored, but ecstatic having been in the market for high-quality wireless speakers, the opportunity couldn’t have come at a better time. Not to mention having recently conducted an interview with the creative director of Clashist, Heather Lipner for HOW Magazine, (you can read it here) the notion of providing coverage for this collaboration was without hesitation.

The two teams immediately got to work creating The Soundfreaq X Clashist Collection a line that includes three Clashist prints on Soundfreaq’s Sound Rise and Sound Platform 2, and three custom Clashist pouches bundled with Soundfreaq’s unique, award-winning portable, Bluetooth speaker the Pocket Kick.

Wanting to deliver designs that were able to speak to the Soundfreaq brand while staying true to the Clashist brand was key. To do just that, Clashist had to design prints that were able to provide the look of movement that one might imagine a sound wave would look like if brought to life. That’s exactly what Clashist did. When speaking with Heather about the collaboration, “we wanted to design prints that looked as though they were abstract sound waves. Prints that really provided a sense of movement and that went with Soundfreaq’s products. We wanted to provide something new and innovative, and I think we accomplished that.”

When you see the speakers in-person, you get to see just what Heather means. The prints are designed beautifully; both bold and colorful for a unique look that captures the essence of pastel waves in motion.

The three Clashist prints that are featured on Soundfreaq’s speakers are “Oil Slick, which captures the memory of the day after a heavy rainstorm, Sand Art which shows the blend of colors the minute sand starts to mix together. And Utopia, which represents a fantastic new world when autumn begins.” –Soundfreaq

The Clashist prints turn our speakers inside out. They bring the vibrancy, detail and impact of the sound we strive to craft to the visual with color and pattern,” said Matthew Paprocki, co-founder and creative director of Soundfreaq. “LA is full of bold, personal expression and unexpected juxtapositions. Together we embraced that spirit and were delighted to share these designs.“

For Heather, working with a company outside of the apparel industry was something the creative director always envisioned for the Clashist brand.

“This is an exciting collaboration because I’ve definitely thought of Clashist as a graphic focused company, not necessarily just tied to apparel,” said Heather Lipner.  “I love that our prints are now on Soundfreaq’s speakers, they look as captivating as they sound.”

Just as Soundfreaq’s speakers are meticulously crafted, each Clashist unit is handcrafted, making each speaker pattern unique, so no two speakers are alike.

We received three speakers from the line and one Soundfreaq Pocket Kick Clashist pouch. We were blown away by the quality, sound, and design of each speaker. With a variety to choose from, there’s a speaker for every customer’s taste and budget.

The first speaker we looked at was the Soundfreaq Pocket Kick. Don’t be fooled by this tiny speaker, it packs huge sound for its size. We especially love that it’s easily portable, lightweight and can fit into any purse or bag for beautiful sound anywhere you go. The Pocket Kick is definitely one of our favorites from the line. Not only was the Pocket Kick named, “Speaker of the Year” by iLounge, it streams music via Bluetooth and has two custom drivers that deliver a very loud, full sound for its size. It comes equipped with a rechargeable battery for up to 10 hours of playtime. It also has a built-in microphone so you can literally take your phone calls wirelessly. It’s definitely unique, and each Pocket Kick comes with a Clashist Pocket Kick pouch. We loved the Utopia pouch that came with ours. The pinks, blues, and white colors marbled together provide a funky and fresh look for the device. It’s soft and doesn’t add any weight to the Pocket Kick so carrying it around is extremely easy. Coming in at just under a hundred dollars you can get the Soundfreaq Pocket Kick + Clashist Pouch for ($99.00). It’s definitely a great buy. Especially for the sound, quality and size. You can get your very own here.

Love staying up late, but hate waking up early? Us too, but at least now you can wake up to beautiful music. The Soundfreaq x Clashist Sound Rise was named a CES “Best in Show” finalist by iLounge, and is a modern and unique bedroom speaker and alarm clock. It is packed with tons of smart features for the fashion focused music lover. We love that you have three options for how to listen to your music. You can plug in your iPhone or smartphone directly into the speaker and play music while charging your device. Or simply pair your device via Bluetooth and let the speaker do all the rest. The Sound Rise also offers dual alarms with weekday/weekend settings that will allow you to wake up to your own music with gradually increasing volume. You can also choose to use the antenna and wake up to the soothing sound of your favorite radio station. The Sound Rise is unique in that it allows for multiple alarm settings and provides you with a beautiful compact speaker that packs great sound quality. The Clashist print we received was the Sound Rise Oil Slick, the blues and greens are married together nicely, the colors provide a sense of calm in our otherwise noisy world. We highly recommend this speaker for anyone looking to have some peace-of-sound when they wake up. Retailing for ($100) you can get your very own here.

Last but certainly not least is Soundfreaq’s Sound Platform 2 arguably the brands most powerful Bluetooth speaker. The Sound Platform 2 is designed to be the ultimate home system with immersive stereo and sound. Here’s what we love, the Sound Platform includes dual USB charging ports, this is a huge bonus because you can now plugin two smartphones or tablets to charge simultaneously. But here’s what makes the speaker truly unique, the Sound Platform 2 features DSS (Dual System Streaming), for someone who’s might not be audio-savvy you may be asking, huh? This means it allows two systems to be paired together, thus performing as one speaker system with left and right audio, filling a room with powerful, balanced sound. We received the Sound Platform 2 in Utopia and that it is. The vibrant color displays beautifully against the sound lending a distinct backdrop to the listening experience. It’s the largest of all Soundfreaq speakers and definitely performs for its size delivering impressive sound quality and let’s not forget it looks amazing, perfect in any room or office. Each Clashist Sound Rise retails for $200. You can get yours here.

Soundfreaq sent us an unexpected fourth speaker, however, unrelated to the Clashist collection, but just as beautiful and unique as all others. The Soundfreaq Double Spot is a speaker that is perfectly balanced. It’s sound output, and clarity is on par with some larger systems on the market. What’s makes the Double Spot so impressive is it’s unique footprint, it’s compact without being labeled, “small” and can definitely stand on it’s own if pit against a larger speaker, like Soundfreaq’s Sound Platform 2. It fits comfortably in any room filing it with amazing sound. The Double Spot is custom designed with two drivers pointed slightly outward to optimize sound projection and stereo separation.

Soundfreaq added their proprietary UQ3 digital spatial enhancement technology for added separation and tuned the Double Spot for a balance EQ, however the listener can also adjust Tone Control for a slightly warmer or brighter tone, so tone-to-taste.  The faux-wood finish provides a warmer look to the device, paired with white trim to let the speaker fall back into its environment. Its design is understated, clean and cool for a truly spot-on sound system. The Soundfreaq Double Spot can be yours for $150.00. Shop the version we received and more here
